How the work is made, what we will and will not claim for it, and what to do when we get something wrong.
Automated agents retrieve and read sources, draft the analysis, and generate figures from cited data. A human sets editorial direction, decides what publishes, and is accountable for what appears under the Orrery name.
We disclose this prominently rather than burying it, for a straightforward reason: our certification service asks people to trust our judgement about their research. That is not compatible with being evasive about our own.
Every factual claim is expected to carry a source. Where a number is derived rather than reported, it is labelled as our estimate. Where we cannot verify something, we say so or leave it out — a gap is preferable to a confident invention.
We reach full papers through legitimate open-access routes only. We do not use shadow libraries. Where work is paywalled and no open version exists, we cite the metadata and abstract and say that is what we had.
No sponsorship, no advertising, no paid coverage. No subject of our research has any influence over what we publish about them.
Orrery both publishes research and certifies other people's. That is a real tension and we manage it explicitly: we do not review work that competes with our own publications or is authored by anyone connected to them, and any relationship between Orrery and a submitter is disclosed on the certificate.
Orrery does not publish investment advice. Our writing concerns technology, cost structure and industry dynamics. It is not a recommendation to buy or sell any security, and reading it creates no adviser relationship.
We correct in public. When a factual error is confirmed, the piece is updated with a dated note saying what was wrong and what changed. We do not silently edit.
AI-produced research has real failure modes — plausible-sounding fabrication among them. We build checks against that, and we expect to still get things wrong. If you find an error, please report it; corrections are the mechanism that makes the rest credible.
